2002년 제이슨 므라즈를 알린 곡이라 할 수 있는 히트곡, 'The Remedy (I Won't Worry)'가 수록된 데뷔 앨범 [Waiting For My Rocket To Come]을 발표하며 팝계로 발을 들이게 됩니다. 빌보드 앨범 차트 55위를 기록하며 대중적인 가능성을 엿보인 앨범으로 평가되고 있구요. 동시에 히트시커(히트가 예상되는 앨범 차트) 차트 2위로 올라 그 가능성에 대한 의심을 한번에 함구하게 하였지요.앨범에 수록된 ‘The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)’는 15위에 오르며 빌보드 싱글차트에 순위를 올린 첫 곡으로 자리하게 됩니다.
이후 2005년 상업적인 성공작으로 평가받는 2집 [Mr. A-Z]를 발표했는데, 이 앨범은 빌보드 앨범 차트 5위에 오르며 성장세를 타는데 기여를 하게 됩니다. 그 해 있던 그래미 어워드에서 베스트 엔지니어 앨범 후보에도 오른바 있는데요. 당시 이 앨범의 프로듀서로 알려진 스티브 릴리화이트(Steve Lilywhite)는 다작의 작품을 양산해내는 것이 특징이기도 한 프로듀서였구요. 그 역시 올해의 프로듀서의 후보에 올라 제이슨 므라즈와 함께 기쁨을 나누기도 했습니다.
2008년에는 세 번째 앨범 [We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.]를 발표했는데요. 빌보드 앨범 차트 3위로 데뷔함과 동시에 유럽과 아시아 등지의 차트에서도 Top 10안에 이름을 넣으며 전 세계적인 그의 전성기를 증명하게 되었죠.
제이슨 므라즈가 세계에서 통할 수 있는 뮤지션 임을 입증한 것은 최근작인 [We Sing. We Dance We Steal Things]의 타이틀 'I'm Yours'의 성공을 통해서 였다고 볼 수 있는데요. 이 곡은 빌보드 싱글 차트 6위, UK 싱글 차트 11위, 뉴질랜드 차트 1위 등 전세계적인 최초의 히트를 기록하게 됐습니다. 앨범 판매량 또한 미국 내에서만 150여만 장의 판매고를 올리며 확실한 매니아층의 기반을 이루게 됩니다.
제이슨 므라즈는 1915년 체코계인 할아버지의 미국 이주를 통해 미국 사회에 뿌리를 내리게 됐는데요. 여기서 “Mraz”라는 이름은 체코어로 서리와 냉해를 의미하는 “Frost”의 의미를 가진 단어이며,제이슨 므라즈는 채식주의자로도 잘 알려진 인물이기도 합니다.
한때 제이슨 므라즈가 샌디에이고 이주 전 뉴욕시티에 있는 아메리칸 뮤지컬 드라마틱 아카데미에 음악, 영화에 대한 공부를 하고자 잠시 동안 참여한 적도 있구요. 이와 함께 폴브룩 부근, 북 샌디에고 아보카도 농장을 운영하고 있다고 전해지고도 있습니다.<출처 : Bugs>
